ABOUT LA PAZ

La Paz Past

La Paz, the capital of Southern Baja, was founded in the early 16th century, by the legendary Spanish explorer Hernan Cortes. He named the beautiful city La Paz (the Peace) after the peaceful nature of its inhabitants.
La Paz was particularly attractive to the Spanish explorers due to being located on a great protected bay, a well protected harbor, and favorable weather.

La Paz Lifestyle

The old world charm of La Paz is still evident in the beautiful colonial architecture, and is without doubt one of the most beautiful cities of Mexico's northwest region.
Take a whale watching trip to Magdalena Bay, or a tour of the Laguna Mountain range to see ancient cave paintings, or a leisurely walk down a pristine beach, all within close proximity.
